Conifer Forest Card
Conifer forests cover vast areas of the northern hemisphere and inhabit cool mountain climates in the south. Conifers are perennial, woody, cone-bearing seed plants, with about 630 living species. The earliest conifers date to about 300 million years ago. The evolution of pollen and seeds, allowing plants to live without being so dependent on water and allowing the embryo to be transported, helped conifers to become the dominant land plants of the Mesozoic era. They were the main food of herbivorous dinosaurs.
