Dear Land,
Today, I ventured far beyond the reefs, where dolphins dance in the waves and jellyfish bob with the current. Echoes of music drifted from the upper deck to my favorite spot near the stern. I love writing to you as I watch the past drift away, sending me forward into the future. There’s something about writing in pen and ink, with a parasol of reverie shading my words, that makes my nostalgia feel so sweet. Then again, I’m embracing new ways head-on! They’re installing a gramophone in my suite today, so I won’t have to leave my writing to listen to the band play at supper.
I understand that I’ve only been away for a few short years, but time feels odd here. Days blend into nights as easily as clams burrow in the tide. We were supposed to dock a few days ago in Bermuda, but we seem to be surrounded by nothing but water in every direction. The sea is vast and full of wonders, each wave carrying me closer to Atlantis. Then again, I traded my compass for this fountain pen many moons ago.
